We are volunteer School Pastors at Uplands Academy in Wadhurst and our role is to be a listening ear to any student who needs someone to talk to – whether they want to chat about career ideas, exam pressures or friendship fallouts. We are the first team of School Pastors in East Sussex, but there are over thirty initiatives across the UK responding to the needs of their schools.
School Pastors are part of The Ascension Trust, a charity which also runs other initiatives such as Street Pastors, Rail Pastors, and Prayer Pastors. These groups respond to the needs in their local communities and everyone taking part has completed a training programme in a variety of subjects including safeguarding, listening skills and mental health awareness.
Would you like to join the team?

We would love to see the team made up of Christians from all the local communities that send children to Uplands Academy.
If you’d like to be a School Pastor you will need to be available one lunchtime a week. You don’t need to have any special skills, just a heart for young people, a listening ear and a willingness to learn. You will receive initial training – which is organised locally if possible – and training and uniform is provided free of charge.
We also have a dedicated team of Prayer Pastors that meet on Friday afternoons from 2 – 3:15pm at Carillon Cottage. You could join us in prayer and even ask for prayer for yourself.
