Mission partners
As well as serving Wadhurst and the surrounding communities, we also believe it is important to support the wider Christian Church. One way we do this is through our mission partners.

Alan and Debbie Burt are serving with Crosslinks in Cape Town, South Africa.
Alun works at St Thomas’ Church Heideveld, teaching the Bible and aiming to disciple young men in a community which is deeply affected by the legacy of apartheid and stricken by drugs and gang culture.
Debbie is raising the profile of adoption in the local church, and supporting families that have already taken these steps.
They have four children: Likhona, Ilana, Malachi and Timothy.

Nick Russell
Nick serves with the Church Army in SE London, where he works with children’s groups, including many from a very deprived background, offenders, and people whose lives are afflicted by drugs.

Much of this outreach is done through various groups like Coffee Stop/Friendship Church, Superkidz, 5-11 clubs, Youth Clubs, XLP Partnership Detached Work and Superkidz Mentoring Programme.

Daniel and Sarah Brito Medeiros
Serving with Church Mission Society (CMS) in Brazil
Daniel and Sarah Brito Medeiros live in the North-east of Brazil with their two children Sophie and Ana. As CMS Mission partners they work with Revive, a ministry in Olinda that, "restores lives and renews hope" of children and adolescent girls-at-risk. Daniel and Sarah provide opportunities at Revive for the children to know God, experience His presence and be transformed by His love through worship, dance, prayer and devotionals. They are also part of a team working in a poor community, partnering with the local church to make disciples and bring healing through dance (Sarah) and football (Daniel) ministries.

Wadhurst Burundi Link
The aim of the Wadhurst-Burundi Link, since its inception in 2010, has been to work alongside communities in Burundi to find lasting solutions to combat poverty. Burundi remains one of the world’s most impoverished countries with 87% of the population living below the World Bank’s poverty line of $1.90 per day.

For 15 years, we supported the work of FH (Food for the Hungry) in the community of Mwumba (a community of 4,850 households in northern Burundi). In August 2024, a team of six from Wadhurst attended the ‘graduation ceremony’ of the programme to celebrate all that had been achieved. Sponsors from Wadhurst continue to support the work of FH Burundi in a new community transformation programme in Mubavu, in the south of Burundi.

Mwumba is situated in the Anglican Diocese of Buye, and a strong relationship has been established with Archbishop Sixbert Macumi, who has visited Wadhurst on several occasion, including a visit to Wadhurst Primary School in 2015. In August 2024, we visited Buye Lycee, a secondary school with 352 students (including 189 boarders) attending. Urgent work was needed to build septic tanks to improve sanitation and enable the school to open in September 2024. The Burundi Link enabled the school to build new septic tanks and rehabilitate two dormitories. In November 2025, a further grant of £4,320 was sent to Buye Diocese towards the rehabilitation of 3 rainwater catchment tanks at Buye Lycee. The lack of water has been a real problem for the students.

The Bethesda Project, in the neighbouring Anglican Diocese of Muyinga, is another project visited by the team. The project is identifying and helping disabled children living in the parishes. In 2025, the Wadhurst-Burundi link sent a grant of £1,000 to help Bethesda team members receive training in ‘Foundations for Farming’ which blends biblical principles with sustainable farming techniques to help small farmers grow enough food for their families. In November, a grant of £1,000 was sent to help cover the Bethesda project annual budget with an additional grant of £600 for the support of 7 children attending special needs schools for the death and partially sighted.
